Commuter Ferry Gets Stuck On Sandbar In Hingham

BOSTON (CBS) – A commuter ferry got stuck on a sandbar in Hingham at about 5:00 p.m. Friday.

The ferry was leaving Hingham for Boston, with nine passengers and five crew members on board.

A State Police boat removed the passengers and crew and brought them to shore.

A towboat is working to get the ferry off the sandbar.

The Coast Guard says a combination of high winds and low tides caused the ferry to get stuck.
