CVS Minute Clinic In North Attleboro May Have Been Exposed To Measles
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (CBS/AP) — State health officials say patients at two Rhode Island hospitals may have been exposed to measles.
The state Health Department says it's working with both facilities to notify patients.
The first potential exposure took place last Tuesday at Roger Williams Medical Center, where a man was treated for a sore throat and fever.
He developed a rash and was seen at a CVS Minute Clinic in North Attleboro Friday between 3 and 5 p.m., where the possibility of measles was recognized.
He then went to the Rhode Island Hospital ER, where physicians agreed his case was consistent with measles. He was isolated and sent home early Saturday. He has no history of measles vaccination.
Lab tests haven't yet confirmed the diagnosis. It's recommended that anyone exposed to the man update their vaccination status.
There was also a measles scare in Sudbury. Parents whose kids were at the Atkinson Pool early last month got a warning letter, but after a few tests, officials say the suspected case was not measles after all.
