No Bail For Irish Nanny In Mass. Baby's Death

WOBURN (AP) — A Massachusetts judge has rejected a plea for bail for an Irish nanny charged with murder in the death of a 1-year-old girl in her care.

Middlesex Superior Court Judge S. Jane Haggerty warned Friday that she would "seriously reconsider" that decision if prosecutors fail to quickly turn over evidence to lawyers for Aisling Brady McCarthy.

She is charged in the January 2013 death of Rehma Sabir. She was taken to the hospital with severe head injuries on her first birthday and died two days later.

McCarthy's lawyers say two medical experts have concluded that the girl suffered bone fractures three to four weeks before her death when she was not in McCarthy's care.

Prosecutors claim DNA evidence ties McCarthy to the fatal injuries and cleanup at the scene.
