Worker Dies After Being Struck By Backhoe In Natick

NATICK (CBS) --- A Natick DPW worker has died and another is hospitalized after an accident Tuesday night.

The workers were fixing a water main break when a backhoe was accidentally pulled forward and struck the two men. The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. at West Street and Redmen Drive.

Long-time DPW worker Michael McDaniel Jr., 48, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second worker, 41-year-old Scott M. Spurling, was hospitalized and is currently in stable condition.

The incident is under investigation.
