Wellesley Police, Fire Crews Round Up 7 Escaped Dogs After 'Doggie Day Care' Van Crash

WELLESLEY (CBS) – Seven dogs that escaped from the back of a van after a crash in Wellesley were all eventually rounded up on Wednesday thanks to tireless efforts by police, fire and animal control officials.

Police say the van, which was transporting them to doggie day care, struck a utility pole on Brook Street around 8 a.m. The driver suffered minor injuries.

Officials were able to recapture two of the escaped dogs almost immediately after the crash.

Searchers were able to round up the remaining dogs after an extensive search that included an appeal for help on Twitter.

One of the dogs had made it as far as neighboring Needham before being picked up.

One dog did suffer facial lacerations and some cold related injuries, but is expected to be okay.
