Felger & Mazz: January 20, 2014
In the first hour of Monday’s Felger and Mazz, the guys break down the Patriots’ loss to the Broncos in the AFC Championship, as well as Bill Belichick’s heated comments about Wes Welker’s hit on Aqib Talib. Was Welker actually trying to hurt Talib on the play? Were Belichick’s comments on the money or overstated? Felger and Mazz offered differing opinions.
The guys also took a closer look at the defeat and debate whether the Pats’ offense or defense was more responsible for the loss.
In the second hour of Felger and Mazz, the guys take a closer look at Tom Brady’s performance against the Broncos. Was he the biggest factor in the Patriots’ loss or was his lack of weapons to blame? The boys also give some praise to Peyton Manning for a stellar effort and look back at some crucial moments in the game.
Was Bill Belichick’s coaching an issue or were his players just unable to execute at crucial moments?
In the third hour of Felger and Mazz, the boys investigate the Patriots’ woes at particular positions. With lackluster performances from Aaron Dobson, Damon Amendola and Kembrell Thompkins, where should the Pats turn to for receiver help? The Pats’ secondary woes are examined, especially after Talib went down to injury. Why wasn’t the Pats defensive backfield able to contain Peyton Manning at all?
In the fourth and final hour of Felger and Mazz, the guys reflect on the Patriots season. Did they play up to expectations by making it to the AFC Title game, despite all of the injuries? Or were they above or below expectations by falling short to Denver? The guys also took a closer look at a Denver-Seattle Super Bowl and enjoyed some of the best of Richard Sherman’s interview during the Final Word with Marc Bertrand.
