Attleboro Principal Facing Child Sex Abuse Charges

BOSTON (CBS) --- An Attleboro principal and assistant pastor, is behind bars held on $25,000 bail.

"I have no sympathy for him, what he did was heinous," said Jeff Bailey, the co-founder and superintendent of the Grace Baptist Christian Academy in Attleboro. He's talking about his best friend, and co-founder, Jeff Nichols.

Nichols was arrested earlier this week, after he allegedly had a five-year relationship with a female student at the school, starting when she was 13 years old.

"What he did was evil," says Bailey.

Parents were equally shocked, when they found out the long-time principal was under arrest. "You just never know what's inside some people," said Paul Mendes, after picking up his two small children from the academy today.

But it's the superintendent, who feels the most betrayed by his friend of 23 years.

"What he did was disgusting, and I'm very angry and concerned about the student."

The victim is now a senior at the academy.

School officials say she's no longer attending the school, but they will home-school her, so she can graduate in the spring.
