Tom Menino Leaves City Hall For Final Time As Mayor Of Boston

He held one final gathering with friends and the media, posing for pictures and taking phone calls before walking out to a standing ovation from a small crowd outside.

One woman shouted, "We love you mayor!" and Menino responded, "Thank you all!" before closing the door to his SUV.

Menino and his wife then went to Logan Airport for a flight to Florida Monday afternoon.

Menino told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 if he can't get out of because of all the airline delays, he'll have to start walking.

His next job will be co-directing Boston University's new Initiative on Cities, an urban affairs think tank.
