VT Father & Daughter Charged With Animal Cruelty

RICHFORD, Vt. (AP) — A father and daughter are accused of animal cruelty after Vermont State Police say they found two emaciated dogs in a camper at their Richford home.

Fifty-two-year-old Randall J. Sheperd and 19-year-old Casey A. Sheperd were arrested on Friday on suspicion of animal cruelty.

Police say the dogs were found in a camper without food or water while temperatures were in the single digits.

Police say a veterinarian estimated that the animals were within 24 hours of death.

The Sheperds could not be reached for comment. A phone number listed for Randall Sheperd is no longer in service. They have been cited to appear in court in February.
