Coast Guard Searching For Fisherman Who Fell Overboard Off Cape Ann
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Coast Guard is searching for a fisherman who went overboard from the fishing vessel Lydia & Maya about 32 miles southeast of Cape Ann on Thursday.
At about 12:30 p.m., the Coast Guard received a report from the Boston-based, 71-foot vessel that that a 47-year-old male crew member had fallen overboard and they were unable to find him.
At the time he fell overboard, the missing fisherman was wearing yellow pants, orange overcoat and no lifejacket, the Coast Guard said.
Rescue crews deployed for the search include the 270-foot Coast Guard Cutter Tahoma, 87-foot Coast Guard Cutter Ridley, a Coast Guard Station Gloucester 47-foot motor life boat, a Coast Guard Station Provincetown 47-foot motor life boat, and a Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod Jayhawk helicopter.
The water temperature is 47 degrees, the air temperature is 40 degrees and seas are two-to-four feet with 20-knot winds, the Coast Guard said.
