Rob Gronkowski Apologizes For Comments In TMZ Video

BOSTON (CBS) — Rob Gronkowski apologized Friday for comments he made in bar, which had been released by TMZ in an online video earlier in the week.

“Yes, yes, I feel bad. Personally, I feel bad,” Gronkowski said when asked if he wanted to explain the video. “I talked to Joe and he assured me he took no offense in any way. And I know others did, and I apologize to those who took offense.”

Gronkowski was hosting a Q &A at Bar Louie at Patriot Place on Sunday night, according to TMZ, where he referred to an Asian fan as “Leslie Chow,” a character from The Hangover film series, and also said, ” They told me he could only cook fried rice.”

The fan, named Joe, was wearing a Gronkowski jersey while dancing in front of the Patriots star.

The Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe added context to the video, tweeting that “Gronk told Joe prior to TMZ video that he wanted [Joe] to jump onto the dance floor. Joe told Gronk something to the effect of, ‘I can’t dance, but I can cook fried rice.’ So Gronk essentially repeated that over the mic.”

Another man in the video announced into the microphone, “Now everybody in the room knows that they signed waivers that they’ve got to give us their phones upon exiting,” to which Gronkowski replied, “I basically gave up on that.”

Gronkowski said Friday of the fan, “He’s a good guy, and he’s a friend of mine. He’s a good dude.”
