BOSTON (CBS) – President Obama is heading to Boston on Wednesday, the White House has confirmed.

The President will be in town to attend “political events,” according to Principal Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest.

It’s unclear where those events will be taking place.

Game Six of the World Series, if necessary, is scheduled to take place in Boston on Wednesday night.

Earnest did not indicate whether the president may have any plans to attend the game.

Earnest did note to reporters during a Friday briefing that Press Secretary Jay Carney is “an avid fan of the Red Sox and is actively encouraging others to take up their cause.”
