CJ Wilson On Toucher & Rich: Sox Struggles With Tigers Starting Pitching

BOSTON (CBS)  - He may not be playing, but that isn't going to stop Angels starting pitcher C.J. Wilson from talking some playoff baseball.

Wilson joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich on Thursday to discuss League Championship Series, and why the Detroit Tigers' starting pitching has been so good against the Red Sox.

It's no secret that Boston is having issues hitting the Detroit starters, scoring just three of their 10 runs against them. Does Wilson see anything that the Red Sox offense is doing that's making them unable to hit what the Tigers are serving up?

"I don't know specifically, but I feel like you can't give guys like Scherzer and Verlander any easy at bats. You have to try to make them throw strikes in your zone if you're a hitter."

"Those guys have swing and miss stuff," Wilson continued, adding if you are striking out, it better be on strikes. "Typically Boston is really good at that, but some of the guys that they brought in are little bit more free swingers this year."

They also discussed Yasiel Puig of the Los Angeles Dodgers showboating in the NLCS, and how Wilson views the actions as a pitcher.
