Daily Talker: Cancelling The Postgame Handshake To Prevent Unsportsmanlike Behavior

It's a ritual designed to promote sportsmanship: shaking hands with the opposite team after a game.

In Kentucky, high school teams can no longer do that.

That has some shaking their heads. Why the change?

The high school athletic association claims there have been too many fights and confrontations. They hope to avoid that by stopping the handshake tradition and making teams leave the area immediately.

Here's the catch. Teams can choose to ignore this order. But, they have to report any problems.

Schools or coaches that engage in any unsportsmanlike behavior could face fines.

What do you think about cancelling the handshake after a game? Does the handshake after a game promote sportsmanship or create the opportunity for unsportsmanlike behavior?
