87-Year-Old Seriously Injured In Hit & Run In Newton

NEWTON (CBS) – Police in Newton are trying to find a driver involved in a hit and run crash that seriously injured an 87-year-old man on Friday night.

Officers say around 7:15 p.m., the victim was crossing Walnut Street near Centre Street when he was hit by a blue Honda two-door sedan or coupe.

Witnesses said the driver, a woman, stopped briefly, but took off while the victim was being tended to.

The victim was transported to the Beth Israel Medical Center with serious internal injuries. He's said to be in serious but stable condition.

Investigators believe that the car involved has a red Massachusetts registration plate beginning with the number 2
