The unidentified 18-year-old fell through a rooftop skylight window on top of the Phi Sigma Kappa house on Commonwealth Avenue.
He landed about 40 feet below on a first-floor staircase.
The young man was rushed to Brigham and Women's Hospital, where he spent the night.
In a statement Thursday afternoon, MIT said the student's injuries are not life-threatening, but he is still in the hospital and alert.
An MIT spokeswoman said the student asked the school not to release his name.
"MIT Police took initial statements about the incident and student life officials are gathering further information about the circumstances surrounding the events that evening," said Kimberly Allen, MIT's Director of Media Relations.
