Worcester Police Investigating Apparent Homicide Of 18-Year-Old

WORCESTER (CBS) — An 18-year-old is dead after an apparent homicide Sunday morning.

The killing happened around 5 a.m. at the Crestwood Arms Condominium Complex.

Police say a fight broke out inside a unit in building "E." During the fight, an 18-year-old man was hit with an object, then ran away. His friends later found him unconscious in the woods.

When emergency crews arrived, they started CPR on the teen but were unsuccessful in reviving him. The victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital. He has not been identified.

Neighbors said they did not hear a loud fight and were only woken up by the lights and sirens of emergency workers coming to help.

"It's a shock to me," said 26-year-resident Don Gagnon. "This is very uncommon. This isn't anything that happens on a regular basis here. (This is the) first time since I've been here."

Registered Nurse Tarym Dooley moved into the mostly owner-occupied condo complex about six months ago and said it's a family oriented place to live.

"You say hi to people. Everyone seems friendly, but no loud parties that I've heard. It's nice. I like it," Dooley said.

The state Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy on the 18-year-old victim. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call them.
