Grizzlies Release Fab Melo 2 Weeks After Trading For Him

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP/CBS) — Just a few weeks after being traded by the Celtics, Fab Melo mow finds himself in basketball limbo.

The Memphis Grizzlies sent Donte Green to the Boston Celtics for the Brazilian center two weeks ago, but on Friday waived Melo before he had a chance to play a game in Memphis.

The 7-foot, 255-pound Melo was the 22nd pick overall in 2012 after playing two seasons at Syracuse. Melo played in only six games for Boston, averaging 1.2 points and 6 minutes per game.

Melo made some noise in the NBA D-Leauge last season, playing in 33 games for the Maine Red Claws, but has struggled to grasp the NBA game since leaving Syracuse.
