NEAQ Seal Pup Gets A Name, Learns To Swim
BOSTON (CBS) - New England Aquarium's adorable newborn seal pup has a name.
Aquarium marine mammal trainers chose the name Kitova or Kit for short after one of Alaska's Pribilof Islands that is a major breeding ground for northern fur seals.
The two-week-old 11-lb. pup remains behind the scenes at the aquarium, bonding with her mother Ursula.
The NEAQ staff released video of Kitova learning how to swim in a shallow pool with help from her mom and the Aquarium's marine mammal curator and resident seal whisperer Kathy Streeter.
