Bob Socci was named play-by-play announcer of the New England Patriots Radio Network back in April of 2013 and is about to call his third Pats preseason game.

Socci joined 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Toucher & Rich to discuss this Pats team, what it’s like to sit with Scott Zolak in the booth during these games, Tom Brady’s protection and the pass rush.

Preseason game number three is usually when the starters play the most and tonight’s game against the Detroit Lions should be a good test for this team. At the start of camp cornerback Aqib Talib was praised a lot, but will have a lot to deal with going up against Calvin Johnson. How does Socci think Talib will do?

The guys also discussed New England’s offensive line and the protection of quarterback Tom Brady. Will this Lions defense get to Brady?

Many have noted the smoothness of the Patriots offense over the past two games, but will this good stretch continue without Danny Amendola? Is this a good test for the team playing without Amendola?
