BOSTON (CBS) – What started as a couple of college sophomores sitting around a Boston College dorm room coming up with a business idea a couple of years ago is growing into a company that could change the way marketing is done on the web.

It’s called Jebbit, and it is a web site that connects users companies that will pay consumers money just for checking in on other sites.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Jeff Brown reports

It’s a concept CEO Tom Coburn believes in so much, he dropped out of school to pursue it.

Coburn says users start with a profile.

“You log in to jebbit.com and we will show you a set of normally 5 to 10 brands we think you’re going to find interesting,” he said. “You see one you like. You go on and click on that company, and you’re brought right to that company’s website.”

Each site has an interactive ad that requires users to look through and find the answer.

Each time you correctly answer a question, you’re rewarded with cash on the spot.

Coburn says these companies love these new interactive ads.

“Since we only charge them when you get the questions correct, they know when you’ve read the page,” he explained. They basically know with every dollar that they are spending that consumers are paying attention to their ads and learning about their brand.”

Jebbit.com recently won $500,000 in seed money from an accelerator program and has gotten more than $1 million in initial capital funding.
