Report: NY Times Agrees To Sell Boston Globe To Red Sox Owner John Henry
BOSTON (CBS) - Red Sox owner John Henry will become the new owner of the Boston Globe, Peter Gammons reported.
The New York Times is selling the Globe, and earlier this week the Globe reported that Henry had launched a solo bid to purchase the newspaper, BostonGlobe.com, Boston.com, and the rest of the New England Media Group.
Elevate Communications, a firm that handles the Red Sox public relations would not confirm or deny Gammons' report, telling WBZ NewsRadio 1030 there is "currently nothing to report."
The Times paid $1.1 billion to buy the Boston Globe back in 1993.
