Norfolk DA Ready For Work After Car Crash

QUINCY, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts prosecutor involved in a car crash that sent him and three others to the hospital says he plans on returning to work next week and fighting any charges he might face.

Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said Monday his doctors have cleared him to return to the office on July 29, although he has been running the office remotely since the July 16 crash in Milton.

Police say Morrissey's car crossed the center line and collided with two other vehicles. The 58-year-old Morrissey blamed it on a medical episode that caused him to lose consciousness.

A court hearing is scheduled for Aug. 19 to determine whether a charge of negligent operation is warranted. Morrissey said he will fight any possible charges by bringing medical records to the hearing.
