Belmont, Waltham, Westport and Whitman have reported finding infected  mosquitoes in their towns.

So far, no human cases of West Nile have been reported.

The DPH is urging people to avoid mosquito bites by using repellent and limiting outdoor activity during peak mosquito hours.

Homeowners can take precautions by draining any standing water and installing or repairing screens.

The state says after June’s soaking rains, it’s shaping up to be a banner year for mosquitoes.

The DPH has been setting traps and spraying in recent weeks to limit the population.
