Mattapan Teenager Dies After Drowning In NH Pond

NEWTON, N.H. (CBS) -- An 18-year-old has died after drowning in Country Pond.

It happened Saturday, just before 11 a.m.

Witnesses told police the man became distressed and was seen going under the water.

Police have identified the victim as Sheldon Jean-Laurent from Mattapan.

Life guards and swimmers found the victim and performed CPR.

He was taken to Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill and later, Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, where he died Sunday.
