Police have identified the victim as James Moore, 65, and say he was well-known in town and lived about a quarter-mile from the crash scene.

Investigators said at first that the suspect's vehicle could be a gray Toyota, possibly a Corolla with damage to its right front end. Later Saturday, they said further investigation led them to focus on finding a Toyota Avalon manufactured between 1997 and 1999.

Somerset Police Chief Joseph Ferreira called Moore a kind, well-known man who recently sought him out at town meeting to say he supported the police.

Local and state police are investigating the crash together. If you have any information, call the Somerset Police.
