One Dead, Several Injured In Mattapoisett Rollover Crash

MATTAPOISETT (CBS) - One motorist is dead and at least two others injured following a single-vehicle rollover crash Sunday afternoon on Interstate 195 near Exit 19, state police said.

Troopers from the Bourne barracks were dispatched to the crash scene at about 12:30 p.m. When they arrived, three people were trapped inside the minivan. A passenger in the vehicle, 53-year-old Jeanett Reed of New Bedford, was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.

The highway was closed briefly to allow a MedFlight helicopter to land near the crash scene.

There were a total of eight people in the minivan ranging in age from 13 to 75, state police said. The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old Florida resident, was flown to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence for treatment. All of the passengers live in either New Bedford or Fall River.

No charges had been filed in the crash as of Sunday night.
