Brockton Woman Stabbed In Throat During Robbery

BROCKTON (CBS/AP) — Police say a 62-year-old Brockton woman has been stabbed in the throat by a man who forced his way into her home and demanded jewelry. That man is now under arrest.

Police say Michelle Foley was taken to the hospital on Tuesday night in critical condition, but is expected to survive. She was listed in "stable" condition on Wednesday morning.

Police say 38-year-old Brian Vines was apprehended Wednesday morning and charged with several offenses including armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and kidnapping.

He was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday. It was not clear of he had a lawyer.

Authorities received a 911 call from the victim about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police broke down the door to get inside to help her.

Police say the attacker also demanded her ATM card and her pin number.

Police said the woman knew her attacker.

Neighbors say the woman is a widowed mother of two grown sons who has lived in the home for 30 years.
