Free Fishing This Weekend In Masachusetts

BOSTON (AP) — It's free fishing weekend in Massachusetts.

The Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game says state residents do not need to purchase a recreational license to fish in either fresh or saltwater on Saturday or Sunday.

Commissioner Mary Griffin says it is a great way for people who have never tried fishing before to give it a shot, as well a great way to get outdoors and have some fun with family.

The department is holding three fishing events this weekend in conjunction with free fishing weekend. They are Saturday in Turners Falls and Hudson. The Hudson event is open to disabled veterans only.

The annual Horn Pond Family Fishing Festival is scheduled for Sunday in Woburn.

An adult resident freshwater license is normally $27.50.
