Worcester Police Find Suspicious Man Thought To Be Taking Photos Of Children

WORCESTER (CBS) – Worcester police have found the man many people believed was taking photos of children in three towns.

The man had been spotted in Worcester, Leicester and Paxton earlier this week, between and 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Several people called authorities.

Worcester police announced in a statement Friday they identified the man and interviewed him.

"At this time, it appears that the photos were taken for his job as a Field Inspector. The job requires him to photograph residential properties. He also takes photos of street signs to prove what street he is on. On various assignments, he took pictures of outdoor decorations and children's toys on the property in order to prove occupancy. His assignments were recently in the areas where the suspicious driver was reported."

Police said they appreciate the calls from the public and encourage residents to always report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.
