2nd Man Charged After Assault On Brown Athlete

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A 22-year-old New York man has been charged with disorderly conduct following an incident in which a Brown University basketball player was assaulted and suffered severe head injuries.

Providence police say 22-year-old Dillon James Ingham was charged Friday and is being held until he can be arraigned. A police spokeswoman would not provide details on his alleged involvement.

A Connecticut Marine was arraigned in Providence Friday on a felony assault charge in connection with an attack early Sunday on 21-year-old Joseph Sharkey of Norwood, Mass.

A lawyer for Tory Lussier of Vernon, Conn., said he acted in self-defense. Lussier was released on bail.

Sharkey plays basketball for Brown. The Brown men's wrestling team lists Ingham as a member.

Police say Sharkey was attacked after an altercation but haven't provided details.
