Norwell Approves Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

NORWELL (CBS) - The state Public Health Council is moving ahead with regulations of medical marijuana dispensaries and it appears Norwell may be the first in line for a facility.

Norwell Town Meeting has approved plans to put medical marijuana dispensaries in one of two industrial parks in the town, nowhere near residential areas. Town Administrator Jim Boudreau says they will be far away from homes and schools.

Proposed regulations allow patients approved for medical marijuana to receive up to 10 ounces as a 60-day supply.

If Norwell does become one of the first towns in the state with dispensaries, many residents don't think it will change the character of the town. "No, I don't think it'll change anything," said one man, "and the people who need it,and get a prescription, well, I don't see the damage to anyone."
