Pregnant Woman Injured In Oxford Hit And Run Crash

OXFORD (CBS) - The search is on for a hit and run driver in Central Mass. Oxford Police say a driver collided with a car driven by a pregnant woman and then took off.

The expectant mother, named Katie, was injured and hospitalized.

The crash happened early Sunday morning on Sunset Ave in Oxford as Katie was dropping off Stephanie Dunn.

"The girl ended up getting into her car, and driving away," Dunn explained.

Vehicle parts that were left at the scene indicate the woman who fled was driving a grey Hyundai Accent, made between 1999 and 2006. Police say the car sustained heavy front end damage to the driver's side, a flattened tire and loss of door trimming.

"I think she was completely drunk," Dunn told WBZ-TV. "I could like smell it on her, so I think she panicked maybe."

Katie was treated and released from the hospital.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or the operator is asked to contact Oxford Police at 508-987-0156.
