Website Offers $2,600 For NH Man's Dreadlocked Banana

BOSTON (CBS) - It appears that a popular satire website is coming to the rescue of a New Hampshire man who lost his life savings on a carnival game.

Henry Gribbohm dropped $2,600 on a game at a Manchester carnival run by New Hampshire-based Fiesta Shows in an effort to win an Xbox Kinect.

He didn't win, and his consolation prize ended up being a giant stuffed banana with dreadlocks.

"You just get caught up in the whole 'I've got to win my money back,'" Gribbohm told WBZ-TV earlier this week.

As it turns out, thanks to some generosity and a clever marketing ploy by CollegeHumor.com, Gribbohm might just see his life savings returned after all.

CollegeHumor.com posted the story on its website with a ripe offer to buy the dreadlocked banana for $2,600 if the post can get 26,000 "likes" on Facebook. If this post gets more than 30,000 "likes," Collegehumor.com says it will buy Gribbohm's banana and buy him an X-Box Kinect, which he was originally trying to win.

As of 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, the post had received 8,500 "likes."
