Haverhill Pothole Patrol: Report A Pothole, Win A Prize

HAVERHILL (CBS) -- Everyone hates them and now one city wants its residents to help fight potholes.

Haverhill is now offering a prize to people who report potholes.

The city says they can fix them fast but first, they need to know about them.

From now through May 10, Mayor James Fiorentini is encouraging residents and drivers to report the potholes because the city's highway department just doesn't have enough staff to look for them.

Fiorentini says once reported, the goal is to have the holes patched up within two days.

Any resident who reports a pothole will have their name entered in a drawing to win a $25 gift card to a local restaurant or butcher shop.

Three gift cards will be given away.

Fiorentini says he decided to have the contest because incentives work.
