Father Of Boston Bombings Suspects: My Sons Have Been Set Up

BOSTON (CBS) - The dad of the two Boston Marathon bombing suspects said on Friday he believes his sons have been set up.

"My sons have been set up," Anzor Tsarnaev said in Russian.

Tsarnaev spoke from his home in the Russian city of Makhachkala Friday afternoon.

He said the information his family received is from television news. Tsarnaev said there have never been any arms or weapons in the family.

The family left Chechnya in early 1990 because of the war, and eventually came to the U.S. looking for better life.

"You see what we've found instead," he said according to the translation. "One (son) is killed and they are looking for the second one; we were trying to save our lives - instead this is what happened, what else can I say?"

Earlier in the day, Anzor Tsarnaev, said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press that his younger son, Dzhokhar, is "a true angel." He said his son was studying medicine.

"He is such an intelligent boy. We expected him to come on holidays here," the father said.
