Crucial Weekend For Lawmakers Trying To Pass Transportation Plan
BOSTON (CBS) – This is a crucial weekend for House and Senate leaders who are trying to pass their $500 million transportation plan.
The House votes on Monday.
The Legislature would raise the gas tax by three cents, and cigarettes by one dollar a pack.
Governor Patrick has proposed his own $1.9 billion plan that would fund both transportation and education.
He would increase the income tax to 6.25%.
He threatened to veto the House and Senate proposal, claiming it does not go far enough to solve the long term problems facing the state.
