Winthrop Teacher Allegedly Put Tape On Autistic Boy's Face

WINTHROP (CBS) - A Winthrop special needs teacher is under investigation, after she allegedly put tape over one of her student's eyebrows, then yanked it off.

"We can't say much right now, only that an investigation is underway," said Winthrop Police Chief Terence Delehanty.

The incident happened about 10 days ago. The boy is autistic, and goes to the Cummings School, where the special needs kids are 9 or 10-years-old.

According to court documents, after the teacher, who is 26, yanked off the tape, the boy yelled out. Then, she took pictures of the youngster, and sent them to several of her fellow teachers. It was one of those teachers who alerted police.

The court documents also alleged the same teacher took photos of another boy's rear end, after his pants slid down.

No formal charges have been filed yet.
