Tanker Truck Accident Closes Mass Pike Westbound Near Framingham

BOSTON (CBS) - The westbound lanes of the Massachusetts Turnpike were closed after a tanker truck crashed Tuesday afternoon in Framingham.

The truck driver says the accident happened when a person driving a Honda Pilot tried to change lanes and spun out. That person driving the Honda was not injured.

A third car, a Toyota SUV, became stuck under the tanker after it jackknifed across the roadway.  The driver of that car and her passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash caught on a Mass Pike traffic camera.

"It frightened everybody, I hope the woman's alright, I think she is more shook up than anything," the truck driver Mark Letourneau told WBZ-TV. "It was bad. It only takes a split second when the weather is this bad for things to go horribly wrong."

All lanes were reopened shortly after 4p.m., about an hour after the crash.

Traffic was being diverted off the Pike westbound at exit 13 in Natick while crews worked to clear the accident.

This was the second time the westbound Pike was closed to traffic, Tuesday.

Around 3:30 Tuesday morning, a tractor-trailer jackknifed onto its side in Newton.
