BOSTON (CBS) – Good news for Boston bargain hunters left broken hearted by the departure of Filene’s Basement.
Nordstrom Rack has opened up shop in the old Filene’s Back Bay location. More than 200 shoppers lined up early in the morning for Thursday’s opening day celebration.
“Up to 30 to 70 percent off,” explained Nordstrom Rack spokeswoman Megan Garvey. “The delivery changes with every truck, and so you never know what you’re going to find.”
Shopper Beth Rogers was among those who rushed in to check it out.
“I was like, I just started to quiver. I needed to come see.”
There were even men swept up by the frenzy.
“All the women in our office were excited,” said Ken Otis. “My wife would be very surprised to see me here.”
Managers of the chain say they hope the store on Boylston and Newbury streets fills the void left by Filene’s Basement.
