18-Year-Old Arrested In Group Beating Of MBTA Bus Driver

BOSTON (CBS) - A young man has been arrested in the beating of an MBTA driver early Saturday morning in Dorchester.

Albert Galloway, 18, of Roxbury, was taken into custody Wednesday. He has been charged with wrongful interference of a bus, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot), assault and battery and fare evasion.

A 53-year-old man was driving the Route 16 bus on Columbia Road at Geneva Avenue around 1:15 a.m. Saturday when a female passenger began to argue with him over a fare.

That's when 15 teenagers assembled at the front of the bus and began beating the driver. He was treated at the scene for his injuries.

Transit police say they are still investigating the attack and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Galloway is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning.
