Bus Driver Fired After Cambridge Boy Left On Bus

CAMBRIDGE (CBS) - The bus driver allegedly responsible for leaving a five-year-old on her bus for three hours has been fired.

Eastern Bus Company told WBZ-TV that they terminated the driver on Tuesday.

The company said Monday that the driver would be fired if they found she didn't complete the mandatory inspection required by law after completing a route.

Tara Dendy called police last week after arriving at her son's after school program and finding out he was not there.

Reign Dendy got on the school bus in Cambridge on Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. to go to his after school program at the Martha Fuller House. But Reign fell asleep and he never got off.

Tara Dendy called police and the bus company found him, waiting on the school bus at the bus lot in Somerville, shivering, scared and alone.

Dendy wants to make sure this does not happen to any other families. Cambridge Public Schools called the incident "inexcusable."
