BOSTON (CBS) – New Mission High School in Hyde Park is crying foul over a move to pull one of their star basketball players from a playoff game because of a suspected concussion.
The decision was made by rival team Shawsheen Tech’s athletic trainer when New Mission was in the lead.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Kim Tunnicliffe reports
Athletic Director Cory McCarthy says he suspected something was wrong when he watched his star player DeAndra Humphries fall to the ground without hitting her head.
Humphries had been poked in the eye by a rival player.
“I really questioned why she was taken out of the game,” McCarthy told WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Kim Tunnicliffe. “I felt something was wrong.”
McCarthy took Humphries to the hospital were a doctor confirmed Humphries did not sustain a concussion.
“It was just heartbreaking because my season is over now,” Humphries told WBZ NewsRadio.
