Red Sox spring training is in full swing in Fort Myers and some stories are starting to come out.
Alfredo Aceves had some trouble following directions during a live batting practice session. Aceves was suppose to be pitching full speed, but instead he was just lobbing balls over the plate. Pitching coach Juan Nieves instructed Aceves to pitch like a real major leaguer and he complied.
Another story is that Felix Doubront showed up a bit overweight and with a sore arm.
Peter Abraham joined 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Johnston & Flynn, who were filling in for Toucher & Rich, to discuss these early issues and how some of the other players are coming along.
Alfredo Aceves giving the team issues isn’t a new development. Last season the right-hander wasn’t happy with his role on the team and it was public knowledge. If you’re the Red Sox do you look to just move Aceves and get rid of the distraction and headache as soon as possible?
Felix Doubront showed up overweight and with a sore arm that held back from throwing off a mound. How much should be made of Doubront showing up out of shape?
