Boston Offers Free Metered Parking On Valentine's Day

BOSTON (CBS) – The city of Boston is showing a little love by offering up free metered parking on Valentine's Day.

Mayor Menino announced Wednesday that shoppers and diners will not have to worry about feeding the meter Thursday February 14.

"Whether you're showering yourself, a friend or a special someone with love this Valentine's Day, we want to make it as easy as possible for residents and visitors to spend some time and money at Boston businesses and restaurants tomorrow," Mayor Menino said in a statement. "Get out there and share the love!"

The city hopes the free parking will give a boost to local businesses who had to close during the weekend storm.
