Celtics' Barbosa Done For Season With ACL Tear

BOSTON (CBS) - It's news many people saw coming when Leandro Barbosa was carried off the court Monday night, but backup guard will miss the rest of the season with a torn left ACL, the Boston Celtics announced Tuesday.

The 30-year-old Barbosa suffered the injury in the third quarter of Monday night's loss to the Bobcats. Barbosa made a move to the basket but immediately came up lame and fell to the ground. He had to be carried off the court by Celtics trainer Ed Lacertte and rookie Fab Melo.

An MRI done in Boston on Tuesday confirmed Barbosa's status for the rest of the season.

Barbosa had been fitting in nicely since Rajon Rondo went down two weeks ago -- also with an ACL injury -- giving Boston a nice spark off the bench. He is the third Celtic in the last month to go down with a season-ending injury, joining Rondo and rookie Jared Sullinger (back sugery) on the C's injured list.

For the season, Barbosa averaged 5.2 points on 43-percent shooting in 12.5 minutes per game
