BOSTON (CBS) – Boston Public Schools will remain closed through Monday.
Mayor Tom Menino made the announcement Sunday citing the need for another day for crews to clear snow from school grounds throughout the city.

Menino said40 additional pieces of equipment will join the 600 pieces already being deployed by Boston Public Works.

The City of Boston is working with MEMA to get additional snow removal resources, with the biggest need being for front end loaders and backhoes to remove large piles of heavy snow.
Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF) will have four community centers open Monday for parents who need a safe place for their child to spend the day, Menino said.
Menino also urged residents to work from home Monday or take the MBTA to get to work.
Menino said it will take a few days to clear the roads. The parking ban remains in effect.
