BOSTON (CBS) – About 144,000 homes and businesses in Massachusetts were left without electricity Sunday morning as the Blizzard of 2013 moved out to sea, leaving nearly three feet of snow in some communities.
Check: NSTAR | National Grid | Unitil | PSNH
NSTAR is reporting 117,383 outages and National Grid had 27,321 Sunday.
A large majority of the outages were in coastal communities and southeastern Massachusetts where high winds pummeled power lines.
NSTAR said its workers are still assessing the damage and that repair crews would be dispatched
“as soon as it is safe to do so.”
The utility warned the public to expect “a multi-day restoration effort with lengthy power outages.”
