BROCKTON (CBS) – Brockton police officers along with Homeland Security agents seized about 450 bottles of counterfeit perfume on Friday from two kiosks in the Westgate Mall, officials said Saturday.
Officers and agents raided the two kiosks and seized the perfume, which was estimated to have a retail value of more than $25,000.
Homeland Security spokesperson Ross Feinstein says not only are they illegal, but counterfeit products like these can be dangerous.
“The consumer has no idea what type of chemicals are in these products. They’re putting their own safety at risk,” he said.
One of the people working at one of the kiosks was arrested for violating the terms of his visa.
Homeland Security officials did not release that person’s name.
The investigation into the counterfeit perfume is ongoing.
