Revere RMV Worker Allegedly Sold Hundreds Of Fake Licenses

BOSTON (CBS) - Homeland Security says a Registry of Motor Vehicles worker has been charged with selling fake licenses to hundreds of people.

Alexander Brewer, 24, of Boston, was a clerk at the Revere branch.

Federal prosecutors say for at least a year, Brewer sold licenses for $200 each to people who wanted to hide their identities.

Brewer is the third registry worker arrested in the last year for this type of crime.

Immigration Customs and Enforcement says, "These types of fraud pose a severe threat because they create a vulnerability that may enable terrorists, criminals and illegal aliens to gain entry to and remain in the United States."

Brewer faces up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.
